Holding Tanks

A Holding Tank Sewage System (HTSS) is an alternative to a conventional on-site sewage system. Holding tank systems use a sealed tank or tanks to hold household waste and wastewater until the tank can be pumped out by a septic pumping company.

In most situations, holding tanks are allowed when a conventional septic system is not permitted due to high ground water, poor soil conditions or lot size restrictions. When the holding tank or tanks are full an alarm sounds to let the owner know that it needs to be pumped out.
